P2P

P2P sharing is when you can share or exchange anything usually through dropbox, venom, and even you tube. You can share files on your cell phone and tablet. Files can be shared between your peers but also it gives hackers the opportunity to get into your system. Most of these files are considered too large to send through email and must be shared through one of these outlets. P2P sharing is very easy. You can send a file from one computer to another without any hassle. In the article "Content producers should take advantage of P2P, not fear it" done by the NMA staff. The article tells us about how sites like Pirates Bay were used to download movies online without paying for them. They also mentioned, "It's not that we don't want to make money, but we'd rather spend time thinking what a new media age might look like full of advertisements."

Privacy

When it comes to New media, privacy and confidentiality should be on high alert. The internet is something which has been created to invite family, friends and even strangers into the lives of so many. Most of the issues with privacy and confidentiality are somehow connected to social media networks, apps and downloads just to name a few. Social media is such an open network even employers are able to find your information without you even knowing. Some say be careful what you post because your online personal information can get misused which can also affect important situations in your life. People post so many things on social media it's hard to keep up with what's real or not. Some people have experienced their pictures being stolen, their names being used and even had their homes robbed while out of town because of the flaws in privacy and confidentiality of new media. Privacy doesn't exist in social media and everyone needs to be aware and very cautious with things they put on social media. Once it's put out there, anyone can have access to it and the response to it may not be as beneficial to you as you may have hoped.

Advice

As a College student I feel it's very important for students to have access to specific departments at school without having to leave a message or be put on hold for long periods of time. If I were hired by Baruch College to use new media to improve the college, I would create a email server or phone number specifically for students who need immediate assistance regarding financial aid, registration and advisement. Students will have the option to email/text in the issue where staff will respond within a 15min. window. The response could be information directing you to the correct department, person or the answer to the information you requested.

Twitter

Twitter

Twitter, Blackboard and in class discussions vary in many ways. A Twitter discussion is very short and can go on for days maybe even weeks depending on whose responding. Your comment can get reposted as many times as people want to repost it. Your only allowed a few characters in a twitter discussion which means you post your most impactful thoughts and opinions.
A discussion on Blackboard never seems to get a quick response as twitter. Most students respond at various times which doesn't really have an impactful response. Since the time to respond is usually what ever is convenient for you, everyone just piggybacks off of what the last few people already said which can be boring and not interesting.
An In-Class discussion is always very lengthy. Students are allowed to express themselves as much as possible. Your not limited to what you should say and everyone gives there own opinions and shares their ideas. There aren't any characters involved and your able to feel satisfied once the discussion has ended. Professors and students can go back and forth on their opinions regarding any topic.

Blog vs. Wiki

Blog vs Wiki

Blog and wiki, they similar when you publish it to a website, work with a group and everyone posts ideas, comments and their opinions . Most people use blogs to get information about personal interests and increase their knowledge on specific topics. Students who want to increase learning  most of them are using wikis to understand things and use the blog to explore what they want to learn or are learning. Wiki, is a collaborative online Group project filled with assignments and you are able to edit it as a group. Blog is usually one persons thoughts and ideas which can be commented on by anyone. Most comments are based on the thoughts of others who feel the need to critique your thoughts about a specific topic. Blogs are done individually and it's more personable.

The article “How to use wikis for Business said that “Wikis are designed to facilitate the exchange of the information within and between teams.” The idea exchange not like before just face to face to record or write down, the variety ways in the internet can solve the time and area gap in order to communicate with others.

How can blogs be used for collaboration and can you think a new use for a wiki that has not been done yet? Blogs can be used to collaborate when focusing on a new product or material. Each blog can focus on a specific area of the item and use their blog to create a buzz about the products benefits. Consumers can gain unlimited information about the product which can be beneficial to the company.
Audience response is important to the blog and product sales.
